On the night of 9/10 March 1945, the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) conducted a devastating firebombing raid on Tokyo, the Japanese capital city. This attack was code-named Operation Meetinghouse by the USAAF and is known as the Tokyo Great Air Raid (東京大空襲, Tōkyō dai-kūshū) in Japan. Bombs, dropped from 279 Boeing B-29 Superfortress heavy bombers, burned out much of eastern Tokyo.

Arashio stable (荒汐部屋, Arashio-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Tokitsukaze ichimon or group of stables. It was set up in June 2002 by former komusubi Ōyutaka, who branched off from Tokitsukaze stable. At the end of 2009 the stable produced its first sekitori, the Chinese born (but ethnic Mongolian) Sōkokurai who in 2013 returned to active sumo after a two-year absence when his dismissal for match-fixing was nullified by the courts.

Dewanoumi stable (出羽海部屋, Dewanoumi-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Dewanoumi ichimon or group of stables. It has a long, prestigious history. Its current head coach is former maegashira Oginohana. As of January 2023 it had 19 wrestlers.

Ekō-in (回向院), also known as Honjo Ekō-in, is a Jōdo-shū Buddhist temple in Ryōgoku, Tokyo. The formal name of the temple is Shoshūzan Muen-ji Ekō-in (諸宗山 無縁寺 回向院), reflecting its founding principle of Pariṇāmanā, or the spreading of Amida Buddha's benevolence to all souls of all living creatures.

The Century Park Tower (センチュリーパークタワー), also known as River City 21 M, is a residential building in the River City 21 building complex in the Chūō special ward of Tokyo, Japan. Completed in March 1999, it is 180 m (590 ft) tall. It is the 45th tallest building in Tokyo and the 66th tallest building in Japan.

The Ryōgoku Bridge (両国橋, Ryōgoku-bashi) is a bridge in Tokyo built in 1659 spanning the Sumida River just upstream of its confluence with the Kanda River. Its name, meaning "two provinces", came from its joining Edo (the forerunner of Tokyo in Musashi Province) and Shimōsa Province. The neighborhood at the east end of the bridge, Ryōgoku, derived its name from that of the bridge.

The Michinoku stable (陸奥部屋, Michinoku-beya) was a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Tokitsukaze ichimon or group of stables. It was established in 1974 by former maegashira Hoshikabuto, who branched off from Izutsu stable, and closed in April 2024, at the time of the retirement of former ōzeki Kirishima, who became the stable head coach in December 1997.

Kasugano stable (春日野部屋, Kasugano-beya) is a stable of sumo wrestlers, part of the Dewanoumi ichimon or group of stables. As of January 2023 it had 17 wrestlers. It has been led by former sekiwake Tochinowaka Kiyotaka since 2003. It was one of the most successful stables in 2013, with six sekitori wrestlers, including now retired Georgian Tochinoshin and Japanese born (but Korean national) Tochinowaka Michihiro, who used the current head coach's old ring name.

The Kanda River (神田川, Kandagawa) stretches 24.6 km from Inokashira Park in Mitaka to the Sumida River under the Ryōgoku Bridge at the boundary of Taitō, Chūō, and Sumida. Its entire length lies within Tokyo, Japan. It drains an area of 105.0 km². The government of Japan classifies it as a Class I river.

Hamacho Station (浜町駅, Hamachō-eki) is a subway station on the Toei Shinjuku Line in Chūō, Tokyo, Japan, operated by Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). The station opened on December 21, 1978, and it is numbered "S-10".
