NOS Alive (formerly Optimus Alive!) is a music and arts festival which takes place in the Algés riverside, in Oeiras, Portugal. The first edition took place in 2007. Despite its recent creation, the festival has achieved considerable popularity both inside and outside of Portugal, with the UK magazine NME placing in one of the top 12 European festivals in 2009.

Carcavelos (Portuguese pronunciation: [kɐɾkɐˈvɛluʃ]) was, until 2013, a civil parish in the Portuguese municipality of Cascais, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) west of Lisbon. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Carcavelos e Parede. The parish was known for the Carcavelos wine. With the decline of the wine-making industry in the region, the attractiveness of its beaches have made the parish a destination for surfing, owing to ocean conditions.

Algés (Portuguese pronunciation: [aɫˈʒɛʃ]) is a former civil parish in the municipality of Oeiras, in Lisbon metropolitan area, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Algés, Linda-a-Velha e Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo. The population in 2011 was 22,273, in an area of 1.98 km². The parish is located near the Tagus river, between the town of Oeiras and the capital city of Lisbon.

Parede (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈvilɐ dɐ pɐˈɾedɨ]) is a former civil parish in the municipality of Cascais, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Carcavelos e Parede. In 2001 its resident population was approximately 17,830 inhabitants, covering an area of 3.6 km², west of Lisbon on the coast near the mouth of the Tagus estuary.

Caxias is a former civil parish in the municipality of Oeiras, Portugal. In 2013, the parish merged into the new parish Oeiras e São Julião da Barra, Paço de Arcos e Caxias. The population in 2011 was 9,007, in an area of 3.41 km².

Algés, Linda-a-Velha e Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo is a civil parish in the municipality of Oeiras, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Algés, Linda-a-Velha and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo. The population in 2011 was 48,665, in an area of 7.18 km².

Instituto Español Giner de los Ríos is a Spanish international school in the civil parish of Algés, Linda-a-Velha e Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo, in the municipality of Oeiras, in the Portuguese Greater Lisbon region, operated by the Spanish Ministry of Education. It offers educación infantil (preschool) to bachillerato (senior high school) level courses.

The Esteiro Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol do Esteiro) is an active Portuguese lighthouse located at Oeiras, about 10 km west of the centre of Lisbon, in parkland that also contains the National Stadium of Portugal. It is a rectangular masonry tower covered with white tiles. The south side has two red horizontal bands that serve as identification during daylight.

Lisbon Harbour Control Tower is a 38 metre tall control tower at the end of an artificial peninsula in Lisbon, Portugal. The building is of an ultramodern design where it tilts towards the opening to the harbour. The nine storey tower was designed by Gonçalo Sousa Byrne and is owned by the Governo da Republica Portuguesa.

The Gibalta Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol da Gibalta) is an active Portuguese lighthouse located at Oeiras, about 10 km west of the centre of Lisbon. It is a white cylindrical tower with dome and red veins, with illumination being supplied by a red fluorescent light. It was rebuilt in 1954 following a landslide which destroyed the old light and killed ten people on a passing train.
