From Bümpliz to the city and back

The Federal Palace (German: Bundeshaus, French: Palais fédéral, Italian: Palazzo federale, Romansh: Chasa federala, Latin: Curia Confœderationis Helveticæ) refers to the building in Bern housing the Swiss Federal Assembly (legislature) and the Federal Council (executive). It has a total length of more than 300 metres (980 ft) consisting of a central assembly building and two wings (eastern and western) housing government departments and a library.

Eidgenossenschaft (German pronunciation: [ˈaɪdɡəˌnɔsənʃaft]) is a German word specific to the political history of Switzerland. The Christoffelturm was a tower built between the years 1344 and 1346. It was located in the old part of the Swiss city of Bern, in the upper section of Spitalgasse, near Holy Spirit Church.After a political decision on December 15, 1864, the Christoffelturm was removed by Gottlieb Ott, a Swiss building contractor.

The Bahnhofplatz (Train Station Plaza) is a plaza just outside the Old City of Bern, the medieval city center of Bern, Switzerland. It was built following the destruction of the Christoffelturm which had been part of the third city wall. It is located north of Bubenbergplatz and surrounds the Heiliggeistkirche and Bern's central train station.

Bern Europaplatz is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Bern and city of Bern that is a major public transport interchange. The station has two levels and groups of platforms, with the upper one on the SBB-owned Olten to Lausanne line and the lower one on the BLS-owned Gürbetal line. Until 2014, the two groups of platforms were regarded as separate stations, known as Ausserholligen SBB and Ausserholligen GBS respectively, but in that year they were both renamed after the adjacent Zentrum Europaplatz and are now shown as a single station on public transport maps.
