Starting at the Gold Creek trailhead (you need a Discovery Pass to park) take the trail south of the bathroom and sign. Along the steep trail, stay to the right. Always stay right. You might run into mountain bikers coming down the trail. You’ll then come to a clearing with what appears to be a logging road. Follow the road till you come to a 3 point fork. The northern most trail comes to a clearing where you can see great Mountain Views. The middle fork (more west facing) will bring you to the top of Gold Mountain. Go under or around the gate to get close to the top. Carefully explore at the top to find additional views. Follow the road back to the forest and then stay left as you return to the parking lot.
