Starting at East Finchley Underground Station is the White Lion public house and further north uphill is the Bald Faced Stag while on the other side of the street is the Phoenix cinema. Crossing the road come to Gertie Browne’s pub with Madden’s bar opposite. Next is the Methodist Church and then St Mary’s Catholic Church while heading downhill is the Islington and St Pancras Cemetery opposite. Crossing the A406 North Circular Road and starting uphill all the way to North Finchley is the army depot with the leisure centre and cinema beside. Reaching the top of the hill is the Anglican Church of Christ Church while further on is the Tally Ho pub and then the Bohemia pub. Next along this level part of the route is Sainsbury’s, Toolan’s pub, the now closed Malt and Hops pub and further along towards Whetstone the Three Horsehoes and finally the Griffin and the end of this walk.
From here turn left and head downhill to Totteridge and Whetstone underground station or link up with the Dollis Valley Greenwalk which virtually runs parallel although further west.
Carry on walking north to High Barnet and beyond or catch numerous buses to far flung destinations.
This is a road walk along the High Road A1000 that eventually links up with the A1 further north or out to St Albans if only the legs would carry ye.
