Port Washington is an affluent hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2010 Census, the community population was 15,846.Port Washington is a hamlet within and directly governed by the town of North Hempstead. With rolling hills and a serpentine coastline in the northwest corner of Nassau County, Port Washington is studded with marinas, parks, yacht clubs, and golf courses.

The Village of Baxter Estates (also known as VBE) is a village in Nassau County, New York, United States, in the town of North Hempstead. The population was 999 at the 2010 census.

The Port Washington Tennis Academy, located on Long Island, New York. Founded in 1966 as a non-profit tennis facility, John McEnroe (under coaches Tony Palafox and Stanley Matthews) and Vitas Gerulaitis developed their games here, and Australian coach Harry Hopman worked at the facility late in his life.

Port Washington is the terminus of the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch in Port Washington, New York. The station is located on Main Street, between Haven Avenue and South Bayles Avenue, just west of Middle Neck Road, and is 19.9 miles (32 km) from Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan. Pedestrian bridges between the platforms are in line with Franklin Avenue and Bayview Avenue, both of which end at Haven Avenue.

Thomas Dodge Homestead is a historic home in Port Washington, Nassau County, New York. It is a settlement-era farmhouse dated to 1721 with additions completed in approximately 1750 and 1903. It is a ​1 1⁄2-story, L-shaped, heavy timber-frame building sheathed with natural cedar wood shingles. The main block has a saltbox shape and there is a nearly square, ​1 1⁄2-story gable-roofed wing.
