I use this optional trail for descending, although it would be a tougher workout than the OG trail for ascending. You do have to be careful where you’re stepping. The trail is narrow and steep. Overall, it’s less rocky and populated than the main trail, with lovely views. I do wish idiots would stop cutting the switchbacks; it leads to erosion and trail destruction. Real hikers know this.
