Percy Warner Park: Chickering Road & Mossy Ridge Trail
Length 8.2 Km
A beautiful hike starting right from the parking lot off Vaughn Road by Old Hickory. Head right up Chickering Road past the steeplechase into the woods and hook a right onto the red-marked Mossy Ridge trail about a half-mile up. Wonderful scenic views of the surrounding hills in winter & spring; soft light, deep shade, and green leaves in the summer.

At the beginning, it’s fairly level, but like with all of Tennessee, there are hills. Depending on how recently it’s rained, there are streams along the way. The one way and do not enter signs are for cars - there aren’t very many on a week day. On the return, you pass the golf course clubhouse. You can stop there if you want to rest for a bit. There’s an option, starting at the same point, to take a totally paved route, suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.

If you head up from the parking area at Percy Warner Park on Vaughn Road and take a left when you reach Chickering, you can make a fascinating little loop up Chickering and onto a closed service road before heading back into the park.
