Sooner & 8th Loops
Length 2.3 Km
This route is through residential area, in a rural community. It is one of the better parts of town, so you will see a succession of well-tended lawns & nice houses on decent sized lots. There are two gully areas on this route, so be aware they may not be passable if it has been raining a lot. There are often children playing, if you are out in the afternoon. If you are out in the morning, before 7:30-8:00am, you can generally hear quite a bit of birdsong, especially during spring & summer. At 8th & Casey there is a small park, with a pavillion, table/benches, a swing & slide, & an overgrown tennis court. The park is across the street from the small airport, & in early November is a good place to watch the annual FlyIn/Air Show. Bugs/mosquitoes are not really a problem. Be aware the city sprays regularly, generally in the evening & it will be announced a week ahead of time on FaceBook. There are often one or two dogs, but they are generally okay. Not strays, just 'escapees', or they are accompanied by owners. It is not unusual to see someone else, especially if you are out before 7:00am/CDT.
