Kasaragod ([kɑːsɾɡoːɖ] (listen)) is a municipal town and the district headquarters of Kasaragod district of Kerala state in India. Situated in the rich biodiversity of Western Ghats, it is known for the Chandragiri and Bekal Forts, Chandragiri River, historic Kolathiri Rajas, natural environment of Ranipuram and Kottancheri Hills, historical and religious sites like the Madiyan Kulom temple, Madhur Temple, Ananthapuram Lake Temple and Malik Deenar Mosque.

Kasaragod District is one of the 14 districts in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Kasaragod became part of Kannur district following the reorganisation of states due to predominance of Malayalam speakers. Kasaragod was declared as a district on 24 May 1984. At the same time, Kanyakumari district was separated from Kerala.

Chandragiri Fort (Malayalam: ചന്ദ്രഗിരി കോട്ട, Kannada :ಚಂದ್ರಗಿರಿ ಕೋಟೆ) is a fort built in the 17th century, situated in Kasaragod District of Kerala, South India. This large squarish fort is 150 feet (46 m) above sea level and occupies an area of about seven acres by the side of the river Payaswini.

Thalanagara is a part of Kasaragod Town, the district headquarters of the Kasaragod district in the South Indian state of Kerala. Malik Deenar Jama Masjid and Dargah is located here. Its economy is dependent on remittance from expatriate workers in the Persian Gulf, particularly Dubai. Thalangara consists of areas like Padinhar(Westyork), Kunnil, Kadavath ("ferry stand") Khazilane, Nuppadamail, Bangod, Theruvath ("street" in Malayalam).
