The City of Westminster is an Inner London borough that also holds city status. It occupies much of the central area of Greater London including most of the West End. Historically in Middlesex, it is to the west of the ancient City of London, directly to the east of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and its southern boundary is the River Thames.

Edgware Road is a major road through north-west London, starting at Marble Arch in the City of Westminster (south end) and running north to Edgware in the London Borough of Barnet. It is also a boundary between several North London boroughs. The route has its origins as a Roman road (part of Watling Street) and therefore runs for 10 miles in an almost perfect straight line, which is unusual in London.

Connaught Square in Westminster, London, England, was the first square of city houses to be built in the Bayswater area. It is named after the Earl of Connaught who had a house nearby. The current appearance of the square dates from the 1820s. The square is just north of Hyde Park, and to the west of Edgware Road.

The nearest London Underground station to Connaught Place is Marble Arch which is a few minutes to the East near Marble Arch walking past the site of the Tyburn Tree.Located at the edge of Hyde Park, Connaught Place is framed by Edgware Road, Bayswater Road, Seymore Street and Stanhope Place.

Chester House on Clarendon Place in Paddington, London is a detached house that was designed by the architect Giles Gilbert Scott as his personal residence. Gilbert Scott lived in the house from its completion in 1926 until his death in 1960. It has been Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England since April 1975.

The Swan Inn (formerly thought to have been called the Saracen's Head) is a Grade II listed pub dating back several centuries. It is located in the City of Westminster at 66 Bayswater Road, London W2. Today a popular tourist haunt at the edge of Hyde Park, run by Fuller's Brewery, it was in former times a resting point for stage coaches proceeding toward London.

Tyburn was a village in the county of Middlesex close to the current location of Marble Arch and the southern end of Edgware Road in present-day London. It took its name from the Tyburn Brook, a tributary of the River Westbourne. The name Tyburn, from Teo Bourne meaning 'boundary stream', is quite widely occurring, and the Tyburn Brook should not be confused with the better known River Tyburn, which is the next tributary of the River Thames to the east of the Westbourne.
