Victoria Park

Victoria Park in Leicester, England is a public park of 69 acres (279,000 m²). It is in the south-east, just outside the city centre, backing on to the University of Leicester and close to the Leicester railway station.

The University of Leicester ( (listen) LES-tər) is a public research university based in Leicester, England. The main campus is south of the city centre, adjacent to Victoria Park. In 1957, the university's predecessor (University College, Leicester) gained university status.For 2018/19, the university is nationally ranked 34th in The Sunday Times Good University Guide, 63rd by The Guardian University Guide and 29th in The Complete University Guide.

The Arch of Remembrance is a First World War memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and located in Victoria Park, Leicester, in the East Midlands of England. Leicester's industry contributed significantly to the British war effort. A temporary war memorial was erected in 1917 and a committee was formed in 1919 to propose a permanent memorial.

The Attenborough Building is the tallest building on the campus of the University of Leicester, and houses arts and humanities departments.The building comprises three distinct elements: an 18-storey towerblock containing 270 offices and tutorial rooms; a low-rise building, known within the University as the Attenborough Seminar Block, containing seminar rooms and computing facilities; and an underground area housing two large lecture theatres and the University Film Theatre.

Leicester Caribbean Carnival is an annual event, held in early August in Leicester, England.The community-organised carnival has been held annually since 1985 (except 2006) on the first Saturday in August, with a parade around the city of Leicester (usually taking in the city centre and the suburb of Highfields), culminating in an event on Victoria Park.
