Dar es Salaam (; from Arabic: دار السلام‎, romanized: Dār as-Salām, lit. 'house of peace'), or simply Dar, formerly known as Mzizima, is the former capital as well as the most populous city in Tanzania and a regionally important economic centre. Located on the Swahili coast, the city is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Established in 1964, the Aga Khan Hospital, Dar es Salaam is a 170-bed multispecialty hospital. The hospital provides general medical services, specialist clinics and diagnostic services. It is Tanzania's only hospital to be specialized in cardiology, and the only hospital in East Africa doing cardiac surgery.
