Central–Mid-Levels escalator

The Central–Mid-Levels escalator and walkway system in Hong Kong is the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world. The system covers over 800 metres (2,600 ft) in distance and traverses an elevation of over 135 metres (443 ft) from bottom to top. It opened in 1993 to provide an improved link between the Central and Mid-Levels districts on Hong Kong Island.

Located between Jubilee Street, Queen Victoria Street, Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central, it was the first wet market in Hong Kong. 9 Queen's Road Central is a skyscraper located in the Central district of Hong Kong. The tower rises 39 floors and 187 metres (614 ft) in height. The building was completed in 1991. It was designed by architectural firm Wong Tung & Partners, and was developed by Hongkong Land. 9 Queen's Road Central, which stands as the 80th-tallest building in Hong Kong, is composed almost entirely of commercial office space; the podium which the building rises out of is used for retailing.

The Noon-day Gun is located opposite the hotel.

Occupy Central (2011–12)

Occupy Central was an occupation protest, which took place in Central, Hong Kong and lasted from 15 October 2011 to 11 September 2012. The camp was set up at a plaza beneath the HSBC headquarters. On 13 August 2012, the High Court granted an injunction against the continuation of the protest, and ordered the occupants to leave by 9 p.m.
