Cheongju (Korean pronunciation: [tɕʰʌŋ.dʑu]) is the capital and largest city of North Chungcheong Province in South Korea.

Seowon University (서원대학교) is a private university located in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, South Korea. It was established in 1968. Seowon University has six colleges and two graduate schools of various academic fields enrolling around 7.000 under and post graduate students from Korea, China, Japan, Mongolia and elsewhere.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cheongju (Latin: Dioecesis Cheongiuensis) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church located in Cheongju, South Korea. The diocese is suffragan to the Archdiocese of Daegu. The current bishop is Gabriel Chang Bong-hun, appointed in 1999.
