Beach and store

The Waikiki Village Motel is a historic motel at 1500 South Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It was built in 1963, during the height of the resort community's boom years. It is an idiosyncratic example of Mid-Century Modern architecture, with a distinctive Hawaiian style hut at one corner.

On the night of April 25, 2009, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel of Chili, New York, left the Bar Harbor Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she had been staying with friends on a spring break trip she had taken without her mother's knowledge or permission. She walked to another hotel a short distance away, and from there, texted her boyfriend to say she was going to see another friend at another hotel.
