Fort Davis is a Civil War earthwork that was constructed for the defense of Washington. It is located in the Fort Davis (Washington, D.C.) neighborhood.

Gail Adrienne Cobb (August 17, 1950 – September 20, 1974) was an American police officer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female police officer in the United States shot and killed while patrolling in the line of duty. She was also the first sworn female officer of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPDC) to have been killed in the line of duty.

Fairfax Village is a small neighborhood of garden apartments and townhouses located in southeast Washington, D.C. in the Hillcrest area. It is bound by Alabama Avenue SE to the northwest, Pennsylvania Avenue SE to the northeast, Suitland Road to the southwest, and Southern Avenue to the east.

Cedar Hill Cemetery, previously known as Forest Lake Cemetery, and also formerly Nonesuch Plantation, is a cemetery located in Suitland, Maryland. Following a series of land purchases starting in 1890, Forest Lake Cemetery was chartered and opened in 1895, but by 1913 few bodies were buried there. In 1913, after going bankrupt and a failed 1908 sale to a developer, 130 acres of the 400 acre Forest Lake Cemetery were sold to form the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Francis A. Gregory Neighborhood Library is part of the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) System. It was originally opened to the public in 1961. A new building on the same site, designed by award-winning architect David Adjaye and Wiencek Associates, opened on June 19, 2012.

Southern Avenue is one of three boundary streets between Washington, D.C., and the state of Maryland. Following a southwest-to-northeast line, Southern Avenue begins at the intersection of South Capitol Street in Southeast, Washington, D.C., and Indian Head Highway on the Maryland side. It runs for approximately seven miles to its other end at Eastern Avenue in Northeast, Washington, D.
