Ávila (UK: , US: , Spanish: [ˈaβila] (listen); Latin: Abula) is a Spanish fortified city located in the autonomous community of Castile and León, and is the capital of the Province of Ávila.It is sometimes called the Town of Stones and Saints, and it claims that it is one of the towns with the highest number of Romanesque and Gothic churches per capita in Spain.

The Convento de San José (English: Convent of Saint Joseph) is a monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns in Ávila, Spain. It is situated not far from the center of the city but outside the medieval walls. Saint Teresa of Jesus was the driving force behind the foundation of the monastery, which was built from 1562 onwards.
