The Max Planck Institute for Informatics (German: Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, abbreviated MPI-INF or MPII) is a research institute in computer science with a focus on algorithms and their applications in a broad sense. It hosts fundamental research (algorithms and complexity, programming logics) as well a research for various application domains (computer graphics, geometric computation, constraint solving, computational biology).

The Europa-Institut was founded at Saarland University in 1951, long before the signing of the Treaties of Rome, and it is consequently the second eldest institution focused on European Integration (after the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium). Over 5,000 students from over 40 different countries have since graduated from the Institute.

The Landesbank Saar (short SaarLB) is a public-law corporation established in Saarbrücken and the largest credit and mortgage bond institute in Saarland. In 2017, the balance sheet total was around €14 billion. Core markets are Saarland and France, especially the northeast of the country.Until December 31, 2013, shareholders of the SaarLB were the Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB, 49.9 percent),Saarland (35.2 percent) and the Sparkassenverband Saar (14.9 percent), after Bayerische Landesbank in the course of the financial crisis sold a share of 25.2 percent for 65 million euros to the Saarland.

As of April 1, 2016 the garden has closed.The Botanischer Garten der Universität des Saarlandes (2.5 hectares) is a botanical garden maintained by Saarland University. It is located on the university campus in Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany, and is open Monday through Thursday, and Sunday in the warmer months, without charge.

Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof or Saarbrücken Central Station also called Eurobahnhof Saarbrucken, is the principal railway station in the German city of Saarbrücken and the largest station in the Saarland, a German state on the border with France. Around 10 million passengers use the station annually. The station is operated by DB Station&Service as a category 2 station, served by regional and long-distance trains.

Saarland University (German: Universität des Saarlandes) is a modern research university located in Saarbrücken, the capital of the German state of Saarland. It was founded in 1948 in Homburg in co-operation with France and is organized in six faculties that cover all major fields of science. The university is particularly well known for research and education in computer science, computational linguistics and materials science, consistently ranking among the top in the country in those fields.
