Nikolaev

Mykolaiv (Ukrainian: Микола́їв [mɪkɔˈlɑjiu̯]), also known as Nikolaev or Nikolayev (Russian: Никола́ев [nʲɪkɐˈla(j)ɪf]), is a city in southern Ukraine, the administrative center of the Mykolaiv Oblast. Mykolaiv is arguably the main shipbuilding center of the Black Sea. Aside from three shipyards within the city, there are a number of research centers specializing in shipbuilding such as the State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center, Zoria-Mashproekt and others.

The Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding in Mykolaiv is a higher education institution which trains specialists for the shipbuilding and allied industries of Ukraine. The university is named after the Russian admiral, Stepan Makarov, who was born in the city.

Inhul (Ukrainian: Інгул) is a left tributary of the Southern Bug (Boh) and is the 14th longest river of Ukraine. It flows through Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions.It starts near village Rodnykivka, Oleksandriia Raion in Kirovohrad Oblast (Central Ukraine), flowing south towards the Southern Bug at Mykolayiv, which is 65 km (40 mi) north (up river) from where the Southern Bug River empties into the Black Sea.

The Museum of Shipbuilding and Fleet (Russian: Музей судостроения и флота), the only museum of Shipbuilding in Ukraine, is situated in Mykolaiv (Nikolayev in Russian), Ukraine.

The V. V. Vereshchagin Mykolaiv Art Museum (Russian: Николаевский художественный музей имени В. В. Верещагина) is the museum of art, which is located in Mykolaiv, also known as Nikolayev (from Russian language), Ukraine.
