The Village of La Jolla, often simply referred to as the Village, is the center—downtown area of La Jolla, a community within San Diego, on the South Coast of California. La Jolla is a beach resort community. The Village is its downtown business district, and includes many of its shops and restaurants.

John Cole's Book Shop (originally John Cole's Book and Craft Shop) was a bookstore in La Jolla, San Diego, California. It was founded in 1946 by John (d. 1959) and Barbara Cole (d. 2004) on Ivanhoe Avenue, and moved in 1966 to the Wisteria Cottage at 780 Prospect Street. The cottage had housed Ellen Browning Scripps' half-sister Virginia, and La Jolla Country Day School, prior to becoming the location of John Cole's Book Shop.

The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library is a non-profit membership library located in La Jolla, a community of San Diego, California. It was incorporated as the Library Association of La Jolla in 1899. It has a rich history, closely entwined with the history of the La Jolla community.The history of the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library began in 1984, when a group of pioneer La Jolla women established the La Jolla Reading Club.
