This is an out-and-back hike. You have to cross the river to start the hike. The trail winds through a mixed forest of quakies and scrub maple. As you ascend, the Scrub Maple is replaced with pine. You will cross the spring bed twice more up to the headwaters. You share the trail with a lot of cattle.
