Fort Scott is a city in and the county seat of Bourbon County, Kansas, United States, 88 miles (142 km) south of Kansas City, on the Marmaton River. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 8,087. It is the home of the Fort Scott National Historic Site and the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Fort Scott is named for Gen.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.It is an L-shaped three-and-a-half-story brick and limestone building. First Congregational Church (also known as Brethren Church or Old Congregational Church) is a church at 502 South National Avenue in Fort Scott, Kansas. The Gothic Revival church was built in 1872-73 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.It was built in brick to replace the original First Congregational Church which was made of wood and which burned in 1872.

Fort Scott National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in Fort Scott, in Bourbon County, Kansas. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 21.8 acres (8.8 ha), and as of 2014, had more than 7,000 interments. It is one of three national cemeteries in Kansas (the other two being Fort Leavenworth and Leavenworth).
