Admiral Rodneys Pillar and Llanymynech quarry

Admiral Rodney's Pillar (also known by the Welsh name Pilar Rodney) is a monument on Breidden Hill in Powys, Wales. It was built in 1781–82 to commemorate the naval victories of Sir George Brydges Rodney, Admiral of the White. The pillar is of local stone, 54 feet (16 m) high, and topped with a drum and finial, which replaced the original gilded ball after a lightning strike in 1847.

The River Vyrnwy (Welsh: Afon Efyrnwy, pronounced [ɛˈvərnʊɨ]) is a river which flows through northern Powys, Wales, and Shropshire, England. The name derives from Severn, the river of which it is a tributary.The river used to be sourced from the many rivers and streams running off the mountains surrounding the Vyrnwy valley.

Carreghofa (Welsh: Carreghwfa) is a community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales, and is 89.6 miles (144.2 km) from Cardiff and 153.6 miles (247.2 km) from London. In 2011 the population of Carreghofa was 667 with 10.2% of them able to speak Welsh.The largest settlement in the community is the Welsh part of the village of Llanymynech, on the border with England.

Arddleen railway station served the village of Arddlin in Powys, Wales, sited on the former Cambrian Railways between Oswestry and Welshpool. Served by the Oswestry and Newtown railway, it was situated near the English border.

Carreghofa Halt railway station is a disused station in Carreghofa, Powys, Wales. The station opened in 1938 and closed in 1965.

From the course it is possible to view 12 of the old 'shire counties', including Shropshire, Cheshire, Flintshire and Denbighshire.

Criggion (Welsh: Crugion) is a village in Powys, Wales. Criggion Radio Station was located nearby. A branch of the now defunct Shropshire and Montgomeryshire Railway terminated at Criggion.St Michael and All Angels's church was built in red brick in 1770 and a stone-built chancel added in the mid-19th century.

Pant (Salop) railway station was a station in Pant, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in February 1862 and closed on 18 January 1965.

Melverley is a village in Shropshire, England, situated on the River Severn and the River Vyrnwy, near the Powys hills and the border with Wales. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 156. The village, and the large rural area that surrounds it, was years ago famous for flooding from the nearby rivers but since the extensive defences being installed in Shrewsbury and improvements to the flood defences in and around the Melverley area flooding causes no problems for the majority of residents.
