Maia (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈmajɐ] (listen)) is a municipality in the Porto Metropolitan Area, Grande Porto subregion, in Norte Region, Portugal. It is located 11 km north of central Porto. The population in 2011 was 135,306, in an area of 82.99 km². There is one city (Cidade da Maia) and three towns (Moreira, Castêlo da Maia and Águas Santas) in the municipality.

Cidade da Maia is a civil parish in the municipality of Maia, Portugal. It was formed in 2013 by the merger of the former parishes Gueifães, Maia and Vermoim. The population in 2011 was 40,134, in an area of 10.42 km². The parish covers the central area of Maia. In 1902, Maia achieved the status of vila (town).

Estadio Prof. Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho is a multi-use stadium in Maia, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Maia. The stadium is able to hold 16,000 people.The stadium is named after José Vieira de Carvalho, a university professor and former president of the Municipality of Maia.
