This is a flat, well-paved trail that is part of the Jordan River Parkway. It’s about a 5K segment— I walk to the start point. There is foot and bike traffic but it is fairly light. I have seen police on bicycles a handful of times, which I find reassuring. It’s typically peaceful along the river and I’ve been within ten feet of deer a handful of times. During the spring I saw at least a dozen families of waterfowl with fuzzy little chicks. A lot of stray cats have hideouts toward the Main St. connection, so be sure your dog is leashed. I’ve also seen a skunk kit two days in a row, close to where the cats hunker down. There’s a trash can with doggie bags at the golf course end of the route. This trail is great for a beginning runner, like me, although large parts of it are unshaded for the majority of the day.
