Dhanmondi Lake

Dhanmondi Lake is a lake located in the Dhanmondi residential area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The lake was originally a dead channel of the Karwan Bazar River, and was connected to the Turag River. The lake is partially connected with the Begunbari Canal. In 1956, Dhanmondi was developed as a residential area.

The president of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (also known as Sheikh Mujib or just Mujib) and almost his entire family were killed during the early hours of 15 August 1975, when a group of young Bangladesh Army personnel went into his residence and assassinated Sheikh Mujib as part of a coup d'état.

Daffodil International University (DIU; Bengali: ড্যাফোডিল আন্তর্জাতিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a private university located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established on 24 January 2002 under the The Private University Act of 1992. According to QS University Rankings: Asia 2019, DIU is a top-ranked private university among all the universities in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Medical College (BMC) (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ মেডিকেল কলেজ), established in 1986, is the oldest private medical school in Bangladesh. It is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It is affiliated with University of Dhaka as a constituent college.It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.

Bangabandhu Bhaban also known as Bangabandhu Memorial Museum or simply referred as Dhanmondi 32 was the personal residence of the founding father and President of Bangladesh. Sheikh Mujib was killed along with most of his family in the residence, and today it is a museum. It is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
