Oulu Castle (Swedish: Uleåborgs slott, Finnish: Oulun linna) was a late defense castle in Oulu, Finland. It was built on an island in the delta of Oulu River in 1590. The castle was mostly made of wood and earth walls. There probably was an earlier medieval castle on the same site latest by 1375. The Russian Sofia First Chronicle records that in 1377, men from Novgorod tried to conquer a newly built castle in the Oulu River delta but were unsuccessful.

The Northern Ostrobothnia Museum (Finnish: Pohjois-Pohjanmaan museo) is a museum of cultural history. This provincial museum focuses on the city of Oulu and its surrounding Northern Ostrobothnia region. The museum is situated in the Hupisaaret Islands park in the Myllytulli neighbourhood in Oulu, Finland.

The Mannerheim Park is a small urban park in Vanhatulli district of Oulu, Finland. Renovations finished in 2019 changed the look of the park completely, and made it more suitable for small events. The park is a favorite hangout for many. The park is adjacent to the Kela building, and features a grill kiosk and a children's play area with rides and swings.

Toripolliisi (The Bobby at the Market Place in English) is a bronze sculpture located at the market square in Oulu, Finland. It was made by sculptor Kaarlo Mikkonen in 1987. The sculpture measures 220×150×112 centimetres (86.6×59×44 inches), and it was named in honour of the bobbies that once patrolled the market place.

Otto Karhi Park (Finnish: Otto Karhin puisto) is a public park in the Pokkinen district in the city centre of Oulu, Finland. The park has been named after Otto Karhi, a politician from Oulu.

The Oulu Market Square is the main market square of the city of Oulu, Finland.The market square is located in the city centre, in the Pokkinen district, on the waterfront of the Oulujoki river. The Rotuaari pedestrian zone starts from the square behind the Toripolliisi statue.In addition to the traditional market stalls, old barns painted in red color and restored as bars and restaurants are bordering the square nowadays.

Cultural Centre Valve is a cultural center in the Pokkinen neighbourhood in Oulu, Finland.The cultural center provides spaces for variety of cultural activities. There are two theatre stages, a cinema, galleries, workshops and other spaces in the building. The Valve has got the second largest film library in Finland.

Koskikeskus (literally Rapids Center in Finnish) is a neighbourhood in the Tuira area in the city of Oulu, Finland. The neighbourhood is located in the estuary of the river Oulujoki. The Tuira Bridges in Koskikeskus connect the city centre and Tuira neighbourhoods. The first bridges through the delta were built in late 1860s.

The Oulu Market Hall is a historic market hall in the Market Square, in the centre of Oulu, Finland. The market hall was opened in 1901.The city council of Oulu decided to build the market hall in 1889 due to the tightened food safety regulations in Finland. Specifically butchers were to be moved from the open market square to the covered market.

Qstock is an annual two-day music festival held at the end of July in Oulu, Finland.The festival lineup includes some of the biggest names in both the domestic and international music scene, regardless of the genre. The first Qstock festival was organised in 2003. The festival has quickly grown into the biggest summer event in northern Finland, with 40,000 visitors.
