The Haus zum Riesen (German: House of the Giant) is a baroque palace on the Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg, built in 1707/8. The building is named for a statue with decorates the façade. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, it has been used by Heidelberg University and several prominent academics have worked in it.

The Kurpfälzisches Museum (Palatinate Museum) is a museum of art and archaeology in Heidelberg, Germany. It is located in the Palais Morass. It was founded in the late 1870s, when the city of Heidelberg purchased the private collection of the artist and art historian Charles de Graimberg.

The Klingenteichbach (German for "tinkling pond stream") also called the Klingenbach or Klingengraben, is a 1.5 km long stream in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, which once formed the western boundary of the town, but is now mostly covered over. It is a left tributary of the Neckar.

The Hauptstrasse (German: Hauptstraße, "Main Street") is the central street of Heidelberg's old town, the Altstadt, running the full length of the quarter. Today, it is a pedestrianised zone and popular shopping street. Numerous landmarks are located along its course, including the Town Hall, the Church of the Holy Spirit, and the Church of Providence.

The Bismarckplatz () in Heidelberg is a square named for Otto von Bismarck, located at the western end of the Hauptstrasse, which forms the boundary between the old city and the suburb of Bergheim. It is one of the main squares of Heidelberg and one of the central nodes of the public transport system, along with Willy-Brandt-Platz in front of the train station.

The Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg is a German Student Corps at the University of Heidelberg.

The Church of Providence (German: Providenzkirche) is a Protestant church on the Hauptstrasse of the old town of Heidelberg. Until the union of the Protestant Church in Baden in 1821, this was the Lutheran church of central Heidelberg, while the Church of the Holy Spirit was the meeting place of the Calvinist church.

The Center for Jewish Studies Heidelberg (German: Hochschule für Jüdische Studien Heidelberg, or HfJS) is an accredited institution of higher learning, supported by the Central Council of Jews in Germany and funded by the German federal government. The HfJS operates in close cooperation with the University of Heidelberg and opens its doors to students and scholars, regardless of religious affiliation.

The Friedrichsbau, syn. Fridericianum, is a historic building at Hauptstrasse 47/49 in Heidelberg. The chateau-like three-wing property was built in 1863 for use by the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Old Anatomy. Today it houses the Psychological Institute of the University of Heidelberg.

The Faculty of Chemistry and Earth Sciences is one of twelve faculties at the University of Heidelberg. It comprises the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Institute of Organic Chemistry, Institute of Physical Chemistry, Institute of Geography, Institute of Geology and Paleontology, Institute of Mineralogy, and the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry.
