The 9th arrondissement of Lyon (French: 9e arrondissement de Lyon) is one of the nine arrondissements of the City of Lyon. It covers the northwestern quarters Vaise, Gorge de Loup, Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe, La Duchère and part of Champvert.

The Abbey of Île Barbe was an Abbey built very early in the Christian era, on Île Barbe, outside of Lyon, France.The abbey was founded on the island in the 5th century and was the first monastic establishment in the Lyon region and one of the oldest in Gaul. Charlemagne endowed it with a beautiful library.

The Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon (French pronunciation: [kɔ̃sɛʁvatwaʁ nɑsjɔnal sypeʁjœʁ də myzik e də dɑ̃s də ljɔ̃]; "Lyon National Superior Conservatory of Dance and Music"; CNSMDL), often simply the Conservatoire de Lyon, is a conservatory for the study of music and dance, located in Lyon, France.

Les Subsistances is a cultural centre of diffuse artistic production and located in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon. Since 2007, it has housed a creative laboratory (theater, dance and contemporary circus) and the École nationale des beaux-arts de Lyon. The site has 22,500 square metres of buildings (including 8,300 square meters of renovated surface) and 16,000 square meters of land, and is partly classified as monument historique.

The Île Barbe is an island situated in the middle of the Saône, in the 9th arrondissement de Lyon, the quartier Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe (a former-commune annexed in 1963). Its name comes from the Latin insula barbara, "Barbarians' Island", suggesting that it was one of the last locales to be occupied (two centuries after the banks of the Saône at the foot of the hill of Fourvière).

The École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon is a school of art and design in Lyon, located in Les Subsistances, in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon, in the Rhône-Alpes region of France. It is part of the École des Beaux-Arts tradition, that established the Beaux-Arts architecture style.

Vaise (French pronunciation: [vɛz]) is a neighborhood of the City of Lyon (France), located along the Saône at the foot of the plateau Duchère, north-west of the city. Former commune of the Rhône department, Vaise was linked to Lyon on 24 March 1852, to form part of the 5th arrondissement. Vaise was then attached to the 9th arrondissement at its creation on 12 August 1964.

Lyon-Vaise station (French pronunciation: [ljɔ̃ vɛz]) is a railway station in Lyon, located in the district of Vaise, in the 9th arrondissement. The station is on the historical Paris–Lyon–Marseille (PLM) main line; it is also served by Lyon Metro Line D of which it is the northwestern terminus.

The Institution des Chartreux or more commonly Les Chartreux is a private Roman Catholic Carthusian educational establishment under a "contract of association" to the French state school system. The main site of the school is located in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon, on the hill of La Croix-Rousse.The school was created and directed by priests from the St Iréné society, Father Jean-Bernard Plessy being the current director.

Lyon-Saint-Paul is a railway station in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is located in the area of the same name at the northern end of the Vieux Lyon quarter, between the base of the Fourvière hill and the river Saône. The station is a terminus for local trains serving the western suburbs of the city.
