Stanford

The Stanford Dish, known locally as the Dish, is a radio antenna in the Stanford foothills. The 150-foot-diameter (46 m) dish was built in 1961 by the Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International). The cost to construct the antenna was $4.5 million, and was funded by the United States Air Force.

The Wilcox Solar Observatory (WSO) is a solar observatory in Stanford, California that is used to produce daily observations of the magnetic and velocity field at the Sun's surface. It began daily observations of the Sun's mean magnetic field in May 1975. Formerly known as the Stanford Solar Observatory, it is operated by Stanford University and is located 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) south of the Stanford University campus.

The MacFarland House is a historic house in Stanford, California. It was built in 1914 for Frank M. MacFarland, a professor of histology at Stanford University. MacFarland was also the president of the California Academy of Sciences from 1934 to 1946. He lived here with his wife, née Olive Knowles Hornbrook, and died in 1951.
