Hyde is a town in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, which had a population of 35,890 in 2021.Within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, it is five miles (eight kilometres) northeast of Stockport, six miles (10 km) west of Glossop and 8 miles (13 km) east of Manchester.

Hyde was a county constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1885 until 1918. It was seated in the town of Hyde, Cheshire.From the 1918 general election onwards, the town has been represented in parliament through the constituency of Stalybridge and Hyde.

Hyde Central railway station is the main station serving Hyde, Greater Manchester, England.Originally simply Hyde, it was built by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, opening in 1858 as a branch from its main line through Penistone to Sheffield. From 1862, the branch was extended to New Mills to meet the Midland Railway's extension of its line from Millers Dale.

Stockport Town Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in Woodley, a suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. They are currently members of the North West Counties League Division One South, the tenth tier of English football, and play at Stockport Sports Village. Nicknamed "the Lions", the club was founded in 2014 and were accepted into the North West Counties Football League a year later.

Wood Mill was a mill located by the River Tame in Stockport, Cheshire. Originally built in the early to mid 19th century and used as a bone mill. After 1848 the building was converted to a woollen mill and was rebuilt in 1864. In the 1930s, the building was used for colour and chemical manufacturing and demolished in 1964.

Woodley railway station serves the suburb of Woodley in Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. The station is 9+1⁄4 miles (14.9 km) east of Manchester Piccadilly on a branch of the Hope Valley Line to Rose Hill Marple. It is situated where the A560 road from Stockport to Gee Cross, near Hyde, crosses over the railway line.
