Wimbledon and Putney commons

Wimbledon Common is a large open space in Wimbledon, southwest London. There are three named areas: Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath, and Putney Lower Common, which together are managed under the name Wimbledon and Putney Commons totalling 460 hectares (1,140 acres). Putney Lower Common is set apart from the rest of the Common by a minimum of 1 mile (1.6 kilometres) of the built-up western end of Putney.

A bust of the Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie formerly stood in Cannizaro Park in Wimbledon Common, London. A work of the sculptor Hilda Seligman, it was destroyed in June 2020.

Wildcroft Manor is a historic site in Putney in the London Borough of Wandsworth, with private housing and a Grade II Listed iron gateway.

Kingston Vale with Kingston Hill is a district in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in south-west London. It is a residential area between Richmond Park, the much smaller Putney Vale, Wimbledon Common, Coombe/Coombe Hill and the Norbiton part of the very old borough. The main road is the A308 (also called Kingston Vale and Kingston Hill) which is a through route for traffic passing to and from Kingston Hill to the A3 trunk road (locally known as the Kingston By-pass).

Putney Vale is a small community in south west London. It lies between Richmond Park and Wimbledon Common, to the east of Beverley Brook and Kingston Vale. Its main features are a housing estate, a superstore and a large cemetery. The A3 dual carriageway runs through it.

Old Central School was a school on Wimbledon Common, south-west London, founded in 1758. It closed in 1965 when its role was taken over by Bishop Gilpin School, a new school on a different site in Wimbledon.The original octagonal school building in Camp Road, built in 1758, was still standing in 2012 and in use as part of a private school, The Study.

Shortly before 09:54 BST on 6 July 2023, a Land Rover Defender crashed into an end-of-year tea party and injured several people, mainly children, at a girls' preparatory school in Wimbledon, south-west London, England. One of the injured children died later that day and another on 9 July. The driver was arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
