Huế (Vietnamese: [hwě] (listen)) is the capital of Thừa Thiên Huế province in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. Huế (Thuận Hóa) was the capital of Đàng Trong from 1738 to 1775 and of Vietnam during the Nguyễn dynasty from 1802 to 1945. The city served as the old Imperial City and administrative capital for the Nguyễn dynasty and later functioned as the administrative capital of the protectorate of Annam during the French Indochina period.

Báo Quốc Temple (Vietnamese: Chùa Báo Quốc) is a Buddhist temple in the historic city of Huế in central Vietnam. It was one of the three national temples of the city during the time of the Nguyễn dynasty.The temple is located on Báo Quốc Street, in the ward of Phường Đúc in Huế. It lies on the southern side of the Perfume River and is approximately one kilometre west of the city centre.

Hue Central Hospital (HCH), established in 1894, has been the first Western hospital in Vietnam. The Huế Phật Đản shootings were the deaths of nine unarmed Buddhist civilians on 8 May 1963 in the city of Huế, South Vietnam, at the hands of the army and security forces of the government of Ngô Đình Diệm, a Roman Catholic. The army and police fired guns and launched grenades into a crowd of Buddhists who had been protesting against a government ban on flying the Buddhist flag on the day of Phật Đản, which commemorates the birth of Gautama Buddha.

Huế University (Vietnamese: Đại học Huế) is a public, research-oriented university system located in Huế, the former imperial capital of Vietnam; it is one of the important regional universities of Vietnam. In Vietnam, universities are classified into two classes: university system (two types are national university and regional university) and university (or college).

Bắc Trung Bộ (literally North Central Region, and often translated as North Central Coast) is one of the geographic regions of Vietnam. It consists of six provinces in northern part of Central Vietnam: Thanh Hóa, Nghệ An, Hà Tĩnh, Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên–Huế. The last two provinces were the northernmost provinces of State of Vietnam and South Vietnam until 1976.

Archdiocese (Metropolitan) of Huế (Latin: Archidioecesis Huéensis) is a Roman Catholic Archdiocese in central Vietnam.The creation of the diocese in its present form was declared on 24 November 1960. It covers an area of 12,227 km² and headed by Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh (from 2016), who was previously the Bishop of Thanh Hóa.
