The Château de Vincennes (French pronunciation: ​[ʃɑto d(ə) vɛ̃sɛn]) is a former fortress and royal residence in the town of Vincennes, on the eastern edge Paris next to the Bois de Vincennes. It was largely built between 1361 and 1369, and was a preferred residence, after the Palais de la Cité, of French Kings in the 14th to 16th century.

It was created between 1855 and 1866 by Emperor Napoleon III.The park is next to the Château de Vincennes, a former residence of the Kings of France. It contains an English landscape garden with four lakes; a zoo; an arboretum; a botanical garden; a hippodrome or horse-racing track; a velodrome for bicycle races; and the campus of the French national institute of sports and physical education.

Charenton was a lunatic asylum, founded in 1645 by the Frères de la Charité or Brothers of Charity in Charenton-Saint-Maurice, now Saint-Maurice, Val-de-Marne, France.Charenton was first under monastic rule, then Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul took over the asylum after their founding.
