The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Asunción (Latin: Archidioecesis Sanctissimae Assumptionis) is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Paraguay.It was created as the Diocese of Paraguay by Pope Paul III on July 1, 1547, and was elevated to the rank of a metropolitan archdiocese by Pope Pius XI on May 1, 1929, with the suffragan sees of Benjamín Aceval, Caacupé, Carapeguá, Ciudad del Este, Concepción, Coronel Oviedo, Encarnación, San Juan Bautista de las Misiones, San Lorenzo, San Pedro, and Villarrica del Espíritu Santo.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (Spanish: Catedral Metropolitana de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción) (also called simply Asunción Cathedral) It is the main Catholic church in Asunción. It is located in the neighborhood La Catedral, in the historic center of the capital of Paraguay.

The Cultural Center of the Republic in Asunción, Paraguay operates in the building of the Town Council (Cabildo), and has as main purpose the strengthening of conscience in all the matters that have to do with national history, and gives the building where it resides the value of a monument.

The Universidad Católica "Nuestra Señora de la Asunción", Catholic University of Asunción, also known as Universidad Católica de Asunción (UCA) is a private pontifical university of Catholic obedience in Paraguay. It is also one of Paraguay's oldest universities and one of the most recognized educational institutions in the country .
