Independence Square (Uzbek: Mustaqillik Maydoni, Мустақиллик Майдони) is a central square of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The Monument to the Independence of Uzbekistan is a Tashkent monument made in honor of the independence of Uzbekistan. At the top of the monument is a metal sphere ornamented with an ornamental pattern, on which a map of Uzbekistan is depicted. Wreath-laying ceremonies are regularly held at the pedestal of the monument on national holidays and state visits.

Mustaqillik Maydoni is a station of the Tashkent Metro on Chilonzor Line. The station was opened on 6 November 1977 as part of the inaugural section of Tashkent Metro, between October inkilobi and Sabir Rakhimov. Prior to 1 November 1991 the name of the station was "V. I. Lenin Maidoni" ( "Vladimir Lenin Square").

Ilkhom Theatre (Ильхом Театр Марка Вайля) is a theatre company based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Founded by Mark Weil (Марк Яковлевич Вайль) in 1976, it was the first independent theatre in the Soviet Union, and remains self-supporting to this day.Weil was murdered in September 2007. His last production was the Greek tragedy The Oresteia; despite his murder the day before it was scheduled to open, the actors went ahead because, according to them and to Mark Weil, the show must go on.

The Oliy Majlis (Cyrillic Олий Мажлис, [ɑˈliː mæd͡ʒˈlis]) is the parliament of Uzbekistan. It succeeded the Supreme Soviet in 1995, and was unicameral until a reform implemented in January 2005 created a second chamber.The legislative chamber has 150 deputies elected from territorial constituencies. The Senate has 100 members, 84 elected from the regions, from the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan and from the capital, Tashkent, and an additional 16 nominated by the President of Uzbekistan.

The Supreme Council (Karakalpak: Joqarǵı Keńesi, Uzbek Jo'korg'i Kengesi Oliy) is the parliament of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. It succeeded the Supreme Soviet of the Karakalpak ASSR in 1994, and is a unicameral parliament.The Supreme Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan is the highest state representative body of Karakalpakstan and exercises legislative power.
