Saint Aubin - Benouville

La Bluette is one of French architect Hector Guimard's existent buildings. La Bluette is a villa built in 1899 for Prosper Grivelle, a lawyer from Paris. The house is located at 272 Rue du Pré de l'Isle, in Hermanville-sur-Mer, Calvados, Normandy, a seaside hamlet of 2,661 (at the 1999 census) in north-western France.

La Villa Louis in Lion-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, was built in 1864 for Pierre Joseph Pasquet to be used as a casino. In 1903 he married Elisa Auber, Daniel Auber's daughter, and modify the building to be use as a villa. The French architect Jean Alexandre Navarre add the first floor with the Art-Nouveau loggia on the sea side.

The Café Gondrée is a small coffeehouse in the French community of Bénouville. The cafe is located on the west bank of the Caen Canal, at the northwest end of the Bénouville Bridge, now commonly referred to as the Pegasus Bridge. The building was the site of first combat during the D-Day invasion, and is best known for its role commemorating those events.

The capture of the Caen canal and Orne river bridges (popularly known as Operation Deadstick, and in official documents as Operation Coup de Main) was an operation by airborne forces of the British Army that took place in the early hours of 6 June 1944 as part of the Normandy landings of the Second World War.

Pegasus Bridge, originally called the Bénouville Bridge after the neighbouring village, is a road crossing over the Caen Canal, between Caen and Ouistreham in Normandy. The original bridge, built in 1934, is now a war memorial and is the centrepiece of the Memorial Pegasus museum at nearby Ranville. It was replaced in 1994 by a modern design which, like the old one, is a bascule bridge.

Sword, commonly known as Sword Beach, was the code name given to one of the five main landing areas along the Normandy coast during the initial assault phase, Operation Neptune, of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of German-occupied France that commenced on 6 June 1944. Stretching 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Ouistreham to Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, the beach proved to be the easternmost landing site of the invasion after the abortion of an attack on a sixth beach, code-named Band.
