Forcalquier

Forcalquier (French pronunciation: ​[fɔʁ.kal.kje]; Occitan: Forcauquier, pronounced [fuɾkɔwˈkje]) is a commune in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France.Forcalquier is located between the Lure and Luberon mountain ranges, about 30 km (19 mi) south of Sisteron and 10 km (6.2 mi) west of the Durance river.

Forcalquier Cathedral, now the Church of Notre-Dame-du-Bourguet (French: Concathédrale Notre-Dame-du-Bourguet de Forcalquier; Église Notre-Dame-du-Bourguet), is a former Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France, located in the town of Forcalquier, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.Erected in the 12th century as a collegiate church, the cathedral of Forcalquier became a second seat of the Bishop of Sisteron in 1408, and for that reason is referred to as a co-cathedral.

The canton of Forcalquier is an administrative division in southeastern France. At the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015, the canton was expanded from 10 to 15 communes:

The Université Européenne des Senteurs et des Saveurs (UESS) (English: European University of Scents and Flavors), located at the medieval Couvent des Cordeliers in Forcalquier, France, is a private university specialized in the study of natural aroma compounds, cosmetics and flavorings. Founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Jacques Bardouin, the university is distinct among perfumery schools in that its teaching focuses exclusively upon raw materials of natural extraction, often those produced locally.
