The Battle of Columbus, Georgia (April 16, 1865), was the last conflict in the Union campaign through Alabama and Georgia, known as Wilson's Raid, in the final full month of the American Civil War. Maj. Gen. James H. Wilson had been ordered to destroy the city of Columbus as a major Confederate manufacturing center.

Synovus Centre is an office building in Downtown Columbus, Georgia that serves as the headquarters of regional banking and financial services company Synovus. It was built at a cost of 18 million dollars in 2003 and has views of the Chattahoochee River. The building is a condominium and contains 120,000 square feet (11,000 m²), and 5 floors.
