Sanya (Chinese: 三亚), also spelled as Samah is the southernmost city on Hainan Island, and one of the four prefecture-level cities of Hainan Province, in Southeast China.According to the 2010 Census, the population of Sanya is of 685,408 inhabitants, living in an area of 1,919.58 square kilometres (741.15 sq mi).

Sanya River (Chinese: 三亚河) is located in the southern part of Hainan Province, China. It runs from the Shuiyaunchi Reservoir south through Sanya where it discharges into Sanya Bay.

Hedong District (simplified Chinese: 河东区; traditional Chinese: 河東區; pinyin: Hédōng Qū; lit. 'river east') is a township-level district (akin to a subdistrict) of Sanya, Hainan, People's Republic of China. As of 2011, it has 12 residential communities (社区) and two villages under its administration.
