Krasnodar (; Russian: Краснода́р, IPA: [krəsnɐˈdar]) is a city and the administrative center of Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located on the Kuban River, approximately 148 kilometers (92 mi) northeast of the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. As of the 2010 Census, its population was 774,234. According to the Federal Statistics Service of Russia, Krasnodar officially reached a population of 1,000,007 on September 22, 2018, thus the city is the 16th most populated city in Russia, and also the country’s 16th city with at least a million inhabitants.

Kuban (Russian: Кубань; Adyghe: Пшызэ; Ukrainian: Кубань) is a geographic region of Southern Russia surrounding the Kuban River, on the Black Sea between the Don Steppe, the Volga Delta and the Caucasus, and separated from the Crimean Peninsula to the west by the Kerch Strait. Krasnodar Krai is often referred to as "Kuban", both officially and unofficially, although the term is not exclusive to the krai and accommodates the republics of Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, and parts of Stavropol Krai.

The Kuban People's Republic (Russian: Кубанская Народная Республика Kubanskaya Narodnaya Respublika; Ukrainian: Кубанська Народна Республiка Kubans'ka Narodna Respublika) was an anti-Bolshevik state during the Russian Civil War, comprising the territory of the modern-day Kuban region in Russia.The republic was proclaimed by the Kuban Rada on 28 January 1918 and declared its independence on 16 February.

Kuban Stadium (Russian: «Кубань») is a multi-purpose stadium in Krasnodar, Russia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of resurrected FC Kuban Krasnodar and FC Urozhay Krasnodar. The stadium holds 35,200 people. The stadium was opened on 30 October 1960.When built, the stadium had a capacity of 20,000.

The Kuban Oblast (Russian: Куба́нская о́бласть, tr. Kubanskaya oblast; Ukrainian: Кубанська область, Kubanska oblast) was an oblast (province) of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire. It roughly corresponded to most of the Kuban and Circassia regions. It was created in 1860 out of Kuban Cossack territories that had once been part of the Crimean Khanate and the land of the Circassians.

The Kuban Soviet Republic (April 13 – May 30, 1918) was part of Soviet Russia within the general territory of the Kuban. Its capital was Yekaterinodar.It was merged into the Kuban-Black Sea Soviet Republic on May 30, 1918, less than 2 months after it was formed.

The Kuban-Black Sea Soviet Republic (May 30 – July 6, 1918) was part of the Russian SFSR. Its capital was Yekaterinodar.It was created by merging the Black Sea Soviet Republic and Kuban Soviet Republic. Later, it was itself merged into the North Caucasian Soviet Republic. The leader of the republic was Avran Rubin.

Taurida Oblast (Russian: Таврическая область, Tavricheskaya oblast′) was an oblast (province) of the Russian Empire. It roughly corresponded to most of the Crimean peninsula and parts of the Southern Ukraine regions. It was created in 1783 out territories of the Crimean Khanate. In 1796 it was merged into the Novorossiya Governorate.
