Cortland is a city in Cortland County, New York, United States of America. Known as the Crown City, Cortland is in New York's Southern Tier region. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 19,204. It is the county seat of Cortland County.The city of Cortland, near the county's western border, is surrounded by the town of Cortlandville.

The 1890 House Museum is a historic house located on Tompkins Street in Cortland, New York. It was built in 1890 for industrialist Chester F. Wickwire (1843–1910), and was designed by architect Samuel B. Reed. Chester Wickwire lived in the home from 1890 until his death in 1910. He made his fortune by founding and managing the Wickwire Brothers Company in Cortland, NY, which produced wire products such as horse muzzles, seed spreaders, insect screens, and similar products for rural Americans.

Cortland County Courthouse is a historic courthouse located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1924 and is a three-story building in the shape of a Latin cross built of Indiana limestone. It is located within a three-acre park. It features a distinctive cupola and corresponding rotunda, which rests on an octagonal base, above which are 24 Corinthian columns.

Cortland Free Library is a historic library building located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It consists of one colossal story, seven bays wide, that stands on a high basement. It is constructed of brick in the Georgian Revival style and built in 1928. The entrance is marked by a projecting portico with four columns.

Cortland Fire Headquarters is a historic fire station located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It is a three-story, predominantly rectangular structure, consisting of stepped gables, square bell tower, yellow faced brick, and tiled roof, built in 1914. The first floor housed apparatus, the second served as quarters for firefighters, and the third was a meeting hall.

US Post Office-Cortland is a historic post office building located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1913-1915 and enlarged in 1940-1941. It is one of a number of post offices in New York State designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department, Oscar Wenderoth.

The Unitarian Universalist Church in Cortland, New York (also known as "The Old Cobblestone Church") was built in 1837 as a Universalist Church. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.It has cobblestone walls and granite quoins. In 1895, a large arch was cut in the east cobblestone wall and a Morey and Barnes organ was set in the arch.

First Presbyterian Church Complex, also known as United Presbyterian Church, is a historic Presbyterian church located at Cortland in Cortland County, New York. It was built in 1889-1890 and is a solid massed masonry building consisting of a central hip-roofed main block fronted by steeply pitched gable projections.
