Globe Ganja

Ganja (; Azerbaijani: Gəncə [ɟænˈd͡ʒæ]) is Azerbaijan's second largest city, with a population of around 632,600. It was named Elisabethpol (Russian: Елизаветпо́ль, tr. Yelizavetpól', IPA: [jɪlʲɪzəvʲɪtˈpolʲ]) in the Russian Empire period. The city regained its original name, Ganja, in 1920 during the first part of its incorporation into the Soviet Union.

Elisabethpol Governorate or Elizavetpol Governorate or Elizavetapol Governorate (Russian: Елизаветпольская губерния; in pre-1918 Russian spelling: Елисаветпольская губернія) was one of the guberniyas of the Caucasus Viceroyalty of the Russian Empire, with its centre in Elisabethpol (official name for Ganja in 1805–1918).

Bottle House (Azerbaijani: Butulka ev/Butulkali ev) is an unusual private residence in Ganja built from glass bottles.

The Alexander Nevsky Church is a Russian Orthodox church in Ganja (Azerbaijan), built in 1887. Services at the church are carried out on Saturdays and Sundays, and also during the Twelve Great Feasts and Holidays. Andrey Bezotosny is currently the priest of the church.

Juma Mosque of Ganja or Friday Mosque of Ganja – is a mosque located in the centre of Ganja. The mosque was built in 1606, according to a project of Sheykh Baheddin Mohammad Amili. The mosque is also often called “Shah Abbas Mosque”, because it was built on the instructions of Shah Abbas the Great during his reign.

The Siege of Ganja was the successful siege of the city of Ganja, by the Georgians under King George IV in 1213.
