Chalon-sur-Saône (French pronunciation: ​[ʃa.lɔ̃.syʁ.son]) is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France.It is a sub-prefecture of the department. It is the largest city in the department; however, the department capital is the smaller city of Mâcon.

Chalon Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Vincent de Chalon-sur-Saône) is a Roman Catholic church located in Chalon-sur-Saône. A former cathedral, it was the seat of the Bishop of Chalon. The diocese was abolished by the Concordat of 1801 and was absorbed by the Diocese of Autun.Parts of the building date from the 8th century, but the Neo-Gothic façade is from the 19th.

The former French Catholic diocese of Chalon-sur-Saône (Lat.: dioecesis Cabilonensis) existed until the French Revolution. After the Concordat of 1801, it was suppressed, and its territory went to the diocese of Autun. Its see was Chalon Cathedral.
