The City of Burnside is a local government area in the South Australian city of Adelaide stretching from the Adelaide Parklands into the Adelaide foothills with an area of 2,753 hectares (6,800 acres). It was founded in August 1856 as the District Council of Burnside, the name of a property of an early settler, and was classed as a city in 1943.

Burnside is suburb in the City of Burnside council area in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It is primarily a residential suburb. It was named Burnside, an amalgamation of the Scottish word for creek, "burn" and "side" because of the original property's location on the side of Second Creek. Burnside is 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) east of the Adelaide city centre by road.

Greenhill Creek Recreation Park is a protected area located in the Australian state of South Australia about 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) east of the Adelaide city centre in the suburb of Greenhill.The land forming the recreation park which first received protected area status on 27 November 1952 as a national pleasure resort.

Ferguson Conservation Park, formerly Ferguson National Pleasure Resort and Ferguson Recreation Park, is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located within the Adelaide metropolitan area in the suburb of Stonyfell about 6.5 kilometres (4.0 miles) east of the Adelaide city centre.

Burnside was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1938 to 1970. Before 1938 the Burnside area was represented by the three-seat multi-member electorate of Sturt. It was abolished in the 1970 parliamentary reforms, and was replaced with Bragg.Burnside was one of just three metropolitan seats (with Mitcham and Torrens) won by the Liberal and Country League in 1965 and 1968.
