The river Arve (French: L'Arve) flows for approximately 100 km (62 miles) through France, in the département of Haute-Savoie, and (for a few kilometers) in Switzerland. It is a left tributary of the Rhône.Rising in the northern side of the Mont Blanc massif in the Alps, close to the Swiss border, it receives water from the many glaciers of the Chamonix valley (mainly the Mer de Glace) before flowing north-west into the Rhône on the west side of Geneva, where its much higher level of silt brings forth a striking contrast between the two rivers.

Institut Florimont was founded in 1905 by the Congrégation des Missionnaires de Saint François de Sales, soon after a law in France prohibited religious congregations of any persuasion. The Institut Florimont started out as a private catholic French-speaking boarding school for boys; it is now co-ed and open to external day-students.

The Viaduc de la Jonction (Viaduct of the Junction) is a rail viaduct in Geneva, Switzerland. It was completed in 1945.It is located above the confluence of the rivers Rhône & Arve, locally known as "la Jonction" (the Junction), from which it gets its name. The nearby district of La Jonction also gets its name from the confluence.
