Ferrara (, Italian: [ferˈraːra] (listen); Emilian: Fràra [ˈfraːra]) is a city and comune in Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy, capital of the Province of Ferrara. As of 2016 it had 132,009 inhabitants. It is situated 44 kilometres (27 miles) northeast of Bologna, on the Po di Volano, a branch channel of the main stream of the Po River, located 5 km (3 miles) north.

The province of Ferrara (Italian: provincia di Ferrara) is a province in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Its provincial capital is the city Ferrara. As of 2016, it has a population of 354,238 inhabitants over an area of 2,635.12 square kilometres (1,017.43 sq mi). It contains 23 comuni, listed at list of communes of the Province of Ferrara.

Palazzo Schifanoia is a Renaissance palace in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna (Italy) built for the Este family. The name "Schifanoia" is thought to originate from "schivar la noia" meaning literally to "escape from boredom" which describes accurately the original intention of the palazzo and the other villas in close proximity where the Este court relaxed.

The Corpus Domini Monastery is a monastery at 4 via Pergolato in Ferrara. It first was founded as a house of penitent women, and became a Poor Clares Observant Franciscan convent in 1431. It was the home of Caterina Vigri (St. Catherine of Bologna) from 1431-1456. She served as the mistress of novices, teaching about 100 women to become pious nuns.

The Ferrara Synagogue is a synagogue located in Ferrara, Italy.The synagogue is the only surviving representative of the several synagogues that once flourished in Ferrara. It is located in the historic Jewish community building of 1421 at 95 via Mazzini, which once housed two other synagogues, destroyed by fascists during World War II.

Ferrara railway station (Italian: Stazione di Ferrara) is the main station serving the city and comune of Ferrara, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, northern Italy. Opened in 1862, it forms part of the Padua–Bologna railway, and is also a terminus of three secondary railways, linking Modena with Ravenna and Rimini, Suzzara, and Codigoro, respectively.
