The Maldives are formed by 26 natural atolls, along with a few islands and isolated reefs today which form a pattern stretching from 7 degrees 10′ North to 0 degrees 45′ South. The largest of these atolls is Boduthiladhunmathi, while the atoll containing the most islands is Huvadhu.Some atolls are in the form of a number of islands by time and in the form of isolated reefs, which could be classified as smaller atoll formations.

Upgraded to presidential standards in 1992 by then-president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom, Theemuge served as the presidential palace until 2008, when Gayyoom was overthrown in the country's first democratic election.

It was a single gender school that used to teach only boys students to the secondary level of education until the introduction of Primary Education in 2010 when the school was opened to both genders.

The Islamic Centre (officially named Masjid-al-Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam) is an architectural landmark in Malé, Maldives opened in November 1984 by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.The Grand Friday Mosque located in the Centre is named after the one of the most celebrated Maldivian heroes, Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al Auzam of the Maldives.
