Saale

Leißling (or Leissling) is a village and a former municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 September 2010, it is part of the town Weißenfels.

Goseck, a monastery built on the foundations of a castle, as well as the vineyard of Dechantenberg is located in the municipality of Goseck of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. It has been proposed by Germany for inscription in the List of World Heritage. The World Heritage nomination Naumburg Cathedral and the High Medieval Cultural Landscape of the Rivers Saale and Unstrut is representative for the processes that shaped the continent during the High Middle Ages between 1000 and 1300: Christianization, the so-called “Landesausbau” and the dynamics of cultural exchange and transfer characteristic for this very period.

Heinrich Schütz House is a cultural site in Weißenfels, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The composer Heinrich Schütz (1585–1672) lived here during his later years; the house is now a museum about his life and work.

The Wethau is a river which springs from Hohendorf, Saale-Holzland-Kreis and runs through Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. It flows into the River Saale at Schönburg (Saale), Burgenlandkreis. The River Wethau falls 229.9 metres (754 ft) and is 30 kilometres (19 mi) long.

Schönburg is a municipality in the Burgenlandkreis district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated 5 km east of Naumburg, on the river Saale. It is part of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Wethautal.The castle was built by the House of Schönburg around 1120 and came into the ownership of the Bishopric of Naumburg-Zeitz during the following century.

The Unstrut is a river in eastern Germany and a left tributary of the Saale.The Unstrut originates in northern Thuringia near Dingelstädt (west of Kefferhausen in the Eichsfeld area) and its catchment area is the whole of the Thuringian Basin. It breaks out of the basin through the Thuringian Gate west of Heldrungen and, in its lower reaches, flows through Saxony-Anhalt before emptying into the Saale near Naumburg.

Weißenfelser Land is a former Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") in the Burgenlandkreis (district), in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
